Board members provide direction and leadership for a nonprofit. They must oversee and review the Chief Executive Officer, make sure the corporation is on a path that will achieve its goals and purposes as stated in the Articles of Incorporation and Mission Statement, and continually plan new goals that further carry out those purposes and mission. Each board member is also responsible for making sure the organization has a means to achieve the mission, through fundraising efforts and even personal contributions.
With these fundamentals in mind, we have selected a board with these fundamentals in mind, we have selected a board that will effectively watch over us and lead us down the path. Each board member has been touched by the effects of breast cancer in some way, and each holds our mission near and dear to their hearts.
Elizabeth is a fellow cancer survivor. She also has breast cancer survivors in her family. She has been a coordinator for a county wide youth mentoring program, where she was in charge of recruiting volunteers, fundraising and training. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education.
Sean is the manager of mortgage lending company and the significant other of a breast cancer survivor. With both managerial skills and experience with breast cancer issues, he can help shape The Path of Pink organization.
Gina comes from a medical and financial background - two areas that Gina comes from a medical and financial background - two areas that have a large impact on The Path of Pink treasurer and secretary positions. Her medical administration knowledge will help her guide us toward our mission, and her financial knowledge will make sure we use the funds donated to us in a wise and expedient style. She is very attentive to detail, as well, which helps as Secretary of the Board.
Dr. Gibbs started practicing at Meridian Women’s Health in 2006. She also has clinic at Charlotte Women's Health. She graduated from Des Moines University and is board eligible. She served in the United States Air Force and is currently Rank of Major, Flight Surgeon of the 171st Airlift Squadron and the 127th Medical Squadron for the Michigan National Guard. She served our country in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle. She is married and has two boys. In her free time she enjoys golfing.
Phillip brings leadership experience and technical expertise to the Chairman of the Board position. As the current Chief Information Officer for the company for which he works, he knows firsthand the challenges and expectations of the Officers of a company. His information system knowledge will also help shape the web presence of The Path of Pink in the most effective manner. In addition to all of this, he is the husband of the founder of The Path of Pink, a breast cancer survivor, so he has heard the need for and the mission of this nonprofit repeated to him almost too many times.
Suzanne is a local woman entrepreneur with experience in both the banking and fashion Suzanne is a local woman entrepreneur with experience in both the banking and fashion industries. She is currently a managing partner in her own business. She has traveled along her best friend's journey through breast cancer, as well.
Dr. Russell is currently practicing at Women’s Health since 2003. She graduated from MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified. She is Co-Chief o the OB/GYN Department at Ingham Regional Medical Center. She is married with one son and one daughter. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and traveling.
